Find the course and its catalog rule
- Search by course code and open Catalog and requirements.
- Read the full catalog entry when a rule names multiple alternatives, placement scores or approvals. Look for a minimum grade beside the course it applies to.
- Check whether a linked course is a prerequisite or can be taken at the same time.
The Registrar’s course description guide explains how prerequisites, corequisites and minimum grades are written. For an enforced undergraduate prerequisite without a stated grade, the guide gives D as the default in the enforcement table. Check the exact course and section before you register.
Four ways catalog rules can differ
| Course | What to check |
|---|---|
| ACCT 328 | ACCT 327 with a C or higher. |
| ACCT 210 | Either ACCT 209 or ACCT 229. |
| ANSC 221 | Take ANSC 201 before or alongside it. |
| CHEM 119 | The catalog accepts at least 90% of the chemistry ALEKS module, the stated math coursework and grade, or an acceptable math placement score. |
For CHEM 119, the math-course pathway calls for a C or better in MATH 140, MATH 150 or an equivalent course. Check the current catalog for the exact placement language.
