Mechanical Engineering (MEEN)3.50, with B or better in required coursesNo

The university baseline is 2.50 on at least 24 graded transferable hours. Admission also depends on the major review and available space. The 2026–27 BUSI course sheet lists eligibility when BUAD is first choice. The Admissions transfer overview says Mays does not consider second choices. Ask the Office of Admissions which rule applies before choosing BUSI.

What courses does Mays require?

These are Texas Common Course Numbering System codes. The Mays sheets accept MATH 2414 for 1324 and MATH 2413 for 1325. Check your college’s equivalents before you register.

What courses does Mechanical Engineering require?

The required-course table lists MATH 2413 and 2414, PHYS 2425 or 2325, PHYS 2426 or 2326, CHEM 1409 or 1412, and ENGL 1301 or 1302. Earn at least a B in each required course. Physics II must be complete or in progress at application.

The sheet calls for two full semesters after high school, at least 24 transferable hours and a Mechanical Engineering essay. Credit by exam does not count toward those hours. Programming is recommended.

The chemistry table and department guidelines list CHEM 1409 or 1412. A footnote on page 2 lists CHEM 1410. Confirm your chemistry course with the Mechanical Engineering department before registering.
