For a shortened course or program calendar, check the dates for your section. After online add/drop closes, the adding or dropping classes guide explains the procedure through the no-record period, which ends on the 12th class day for standard fall and spring courses.
How do I submit a Q-drop request?
- Sign in to Howdy and search for Submit Q-Drop Request.
- Choose the course and follow the prompts. The request goes to your academic advisor for review.
- Check the request status and your schedule to confirm processing.
The university Q-drop instructions explain additional routing for certain students. If you intend to drop every course after the term starts, use the withdrawal process.
Which drops count against your limits?
Texas A&M normally permits four undergraduate Q-drops. A separate state limit of six applies to students who entered higher education as first-time freshmen from Fall 2007 onward and can include drops at other Texas public institutions.
A one-credit Q-drop counts toward the state limit. The university’s scenario table shows how Texas A&M handles one-credit courses and linked lectures and labs. Check Student Rule 1 for the governing rules.
What should you check before dropping?
Ask your advisor whether the class is a prerequisite or affects your expected graduation term. Use the financial aid guide to reach the official aid office before changing your credit load, especially if you have a scholarship or enrollment-based aid.
